Contains 78s from the collection of Joel Rubin and Rita Ottens.
This collection includes reproductions of rare 78 rpm recordings which have been meticulously restored. Many of the originals, which stem from numerous private and institutional collections throughout the world, exist in single copies only (including test pressings). The repertoire includes classical music, Yiddish folk, theater and vaudeville songs and comedy, German cabaret, Israeli folk songs and especially cantorial and paraliturgical song. Of particular note are the recordings of Yisroel Bakon, son of the famous Hasidic cantor and composer Hirsh Leib Bakon of Chrzanów in West Galicia (Poland).
